Base prep matters more here than anywhere else. Most of Agincourt sits on heavy glacial clay — the kind of soil that holds water through spring thaw and pushes pavers around when it freezes. We excavate 12–14" on driveways (vs the 8" you can get away with on sandier ground further west), put down a geotextile separator over the subgrade, then build up the granular A base in 2" lifts and compact each layer with a 2,000 lb plate compactor. Skip any of that and you'll see settlement within two winters.

Driveway sizes in Agincourt run bigger than you might think. The 1960s–70s bungalows along Sheppard East and Glen Andrew typically have 24–32 ft driveways with a flare at the curb. The newer infill builds north of Finch are often 18–22 ft single-wides. We measure and quote on-site so the price reflects your actual square footage, not a generic per-driveway flat rate.

Paver thickness for vehicle loads. For driveways we install 60mm pavers minimum — Permacon Roman, Techo-Bloc Industria, or Unilock Thornbury are the three we use most often in Agincourt. 50mm pavers crack under SUV weight after a couple of years. Patios can drop to 50mm safely. Flagstone and natural stone need a deeper bedding layer; we'll walk you through the trade-offs on-site.

Polymeric sand and freeze-thaw. Toronto's freeze-thaw cycle (around 60 events per winter) is what kills cheap interlocking jobs. We use polymeric sand on every project — it locks the joints against the cycles, keeps weeds out, and stops ants from undermining the bed. Re-top it every 2–3 years to keep the install sealed.
